West Cork travel guide + photo diary

DSC00479

Evening beautiful, as promised I’m back with my West Cork travel guide and photo diary. I kept you all up to date on social media and I received such an overwhelming reaction. From compliments on my Irish imagery and holiday home to followers from surrounding areas who wanted to arrange meet ups. Hopefully the following moments will make you fall in love with West Cork just as much as our family are. I’ve included my top 10 places to visit and eat if you fancy arranging the ultimate staycation.

Top 10 things to do

  1. Mizen, Beara and Sheep’s Peninsula – The most southwestern point in Cork, spectacular scenery, and the forgotten peninsula also worth a visit, with small roads that hug the coastline
  2. Fastnet Trail Walk – Visit the 12 arch bridge which leads to my next suggestion
  3. Butter Road Walk – From Ballydehob to Schull with views of Cape Clear and Mizen Head
  4. Glandore – Take a seat by the harbour whilst enjoying the view of Union Hall
  5. Garnish Island – Explore subtropical plants and gardens
  6. Sherkin Island – Wild, wonderful and filled with Irish pubs and white sandy beaches
  7. Castletownsend – Similar to Cornwall, extremely pretty village
  8. Barleycove Beach & Crookhavan – Amazing for catching waves if you’re a surfer, lovely yachting atmosphere and unique jewellery shop
  9. Allihies – Incredible rock formations and pre historic surroundings
  10. Lough Hyne – Marine lake and breathtaking views following an enjoyable 45 min walk
