Let’s begin by stating this is by no means an AD, however if Apple are reading this – I AM A HUGE FAN, PLEASE PAY ME TO TALK ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS. With that out of the way, in all earnest, I have always been a huge fan of all things Apple. I was converted in my early blogging days (circa 2012), and have the whole product family at this point. iMac, Macbook Pro, iPhone, iPad, Airpods…I’ve never even felt tempted by the whiff of an alternative, and so this review may be somewhat biased.
For context, I upgraded from the iPhone X to the 11, so I wasn’t expecting massive changes. If you’re moving from a lower version, or rival brand, I think you’ll be even more blown away by the below features. The main reason I wanted to move up in the phone world was, A) I’ve had my X for two years and so it was time, and B) my job involves creating content, so the improved camera feature alone sold it.
+ Triple camera system
As above, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max has the most powerful camera to date. You can play around with the telephoto, wide or ultra-wide angle lens and shoot 4K video at 60 fps with extended dynamic range and cinematic video stabilisation. The quality of imagery, extensive shooting options and speed alone are mind blowing. There’s also Nightmode which uses intelligent software and A13 Bionic to deliver low light shots which is bloody awesome.
+ Battery life
When I read reviews that there was up to four more hours of battery life I smelt BS, because let’s be honest, the battery life on an iPhone is generally shocking. I can only speak about the past few days, but the battery has in fact lasted THE WHOLE DAY each day. Shocking, considering I use about 264 apps with my job, and Whatsapp is my main mode of conversation with clients, family and friends. I’ve also noticed the new 18W adapter charges a LOT faster which is pretty epic.
Here comes the tech talk. The Super Retina XDR display has two new levels of brightness and understands when to use them; similar to having a Pro Display XDR on your iPhone. In lay-mans terms – its the brightest and sharpest screen you’ve ever seen (in phone format). Everything and everyone looks better.
The Pro Max is the same size as the X, meaning it’s easy to hold when taking selfies. Essential. It’s also a good bit lighter in terms of weight. It’s water resistant up to 4 meters for 30 minutes, which is double the depth of the iPhone X. And finally, the A13 Bionic chip is apparently the fastest and most dynamic chip ever built into a smartphone, meaning you’ll be using an incredible powerful learning machine.
To surmise, it’s an 11/10 from me (so far).
