How to style the denim dress

Photo 13-07-2016, 12 23 03

Hello beautiful, this blog was brought to you from stunningly sunny Ballydehob, West Cork. I spent some valuable family time in our holiday home for the week and incorporated a light amount of work on my trip. I gather you enjoyed my updates on social media, so much so that Goss voted me one of the Top 20 Irish travel accounts to follow which is awesome. You can check out my Cork photo diary and stay suggestions here. It’s times like this I feel extremely blessed to be able to work remotely in such amazing places.

With it being such a casual country location I packed some very chilled outfits, including a couple of key pieces I could mix and match accessories with to easily change up the look. One of those pieces was a denim shirt dress. The denim dress is an ideal item to add to your wardrobe; denim is not only massively on trend at the moment, with so many designers reworking their collections, but it’s also a timeless piece that can has endless style options.

Make a statement and pop a pair of red Converse with your denim for a Tommy Hilfiger inspired look as seen here. Blue and red worn this way gives a nice nautical vibe that’s more classy than tacky. Dress up your denim by adding some tan or ‘greige’ ankle boots for a more Western feel or some nude heels and sleek hair for a dinner date. If the weather is too cool, layer your dress with some distressed denims for an on trend double denim look; the possibilities are endless. Another of my favourite ways to style the denim shirt dress is by adding a panama hat, tortoiseshell shades, a crossbody bag and some off white trainers for a really easy and chic festival vibes look.

Above, I’ve in included my my top ten picks from the highstreet meaning you’re sure to find an affordable option that suits your shape. ASOS have an amazing range to chose from including denim dresses for tall, petite, plus size and pregnant women. My advice is to go a size up when it comes to dresses as denim can be a tight enough fit around the hip area and generally has a waist tie so you’ll still be accentuated in all the right places.

Joanne xoxo
