One of Ireland’s well known influencers, Joanne Larby is a best selling author, content creator, make-up artist, podcast host, and plus size model. Joanne is also a qualified Montessori teacher, and has dabbled in presenting, public speaking and styling. Joanne has always been passionate about empowering women to both accept themselves, and to strive to be everything they want to be.

Having qualified as a make-up artist, as well as studying child psychology and special needs, Joanne originally launched her blog to showcase her passion for make-up artistry and fashion. 

Her empathy and insights saw ‘The Make Up Fairy’ brand earn legions of fans, and Joanne’s chatty blog style evolved to cover beauty, fashion and lifestyle, and her trademark encouragement of the pursuit of happiness.

The 5’10” size 14 beauty also worked regularly as a curvy model in traditional media, promoting body confidence and sharing her experiences of carving out a career path in an industry she loves.

The Make Up Fairy became an official brand in 2012, evolving from a blog to an online magazine, including a YouTube channel, styling and beauty tutorials, touring workshops, social media seminars, and lifestyle features; from fashion and fitness to travel.

Joanne Larby has won numerous Irish accolades including the JCI Young Entrepreneur 2017Best Beauty Blog 2016Best Company Beauty Blog 2016 and Best Social Media 2015 and has been nominated for the UK Blog Awards, and two UK Cosmopolitan awards, The Best International Fashion Blog and Best Beauty Vlogger.

She now has a combined social media following of 300,000 people, with more than 250,000 international website hits a week, and was voted by Vogue Italia as the top curvy girl in the world to follow.

As well as maintaining her online alter-ego, Joanne worked full time in the beauty industry, staging make-up masterclasses for big names, running her own brand, giving entrepreneurial talks, hosting style workshops, and doing TV features, fashion shoots and catwalk shows. 

Joanne also works with a myriad of brands within advertising and brand styling.

The Make Up Fairy grew into everyone’s favourite Fairy Godmother, and Joanne Larby’s first book Fairy Tales became an Irish best seller.

The creative dreamer, turned entrepreneur and role model to thousands, has compiled an inspiring lifestyle bible, encouraging women to follow their dreams, love their body, look their best, manage their anxiety, make healthy choices, and, most of all, to live life to the full.

In May of 2017 Joanne made the move to the UK to spread her wings and create a base in London where she expanded her business and profile. She signed with leading agency BMA as a model and influencer and took part in London fashion week. 

Joanne also launched her own brand Enchant which saw her first product ‘Fairy Wands’ quite literally fly off shelves, selling out in a matter of minutes with her second product ‘Pixie Pout’ following suit as the fastest selling Black Friday offer in leading pharmacy McCabes. 

In 2018 Joanne collaborated with GlamFam a new Irish brand which houses two new products by Joanne, Illuminating Drops and Intense Cream Shadows, both on shelves nationwide. Joanne also moved back to Ireland to settle down and set her sights on new ventures.

In 2019 Joanne launched her own podcast, which has reached No.1 in various categories on the iTunes charts with each episode release. The Other Side Of Perfect podcast takes a ‘filter free’ look at life through the lens of social media. Joanne Larby has spent the past 7 years in this industry and moved from make up artistry and teaching to blogging and plus size modelling, she’s written a book, released her own beauty line and creates content on a daily basis, both for her own audience and other brands. This series will include a variety of inspirational guests covering topics such as break ups, body image, the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, and the struggles we face in a society where the online world can make a massive impact real life.
